Day Trips & Excursions Near Jaipur

Beyond the City Palace and Hawa Mahal, the countryside around Jaipur hides some of Rajasthan's most memorable sights - an abandoned fort with a ghostly reputation, an 8th-century stepwell carved 13 storeys into the earth, and pilgrim towns that draw visitors from across India. Sneh Deep Guest House can arrange a car and driver for any of these excursions from Jaipur - just ask at the reception desk or mention it when you book.

Bhangarh Fort - India's Most Famous 'Haunted' Fort

Roughly 3 hours' drive south-east of Jaipur, Bhangarh Fort is a 17th-century fortified town, now abandoned, that has become famous across India as a reputedly haunted site. Whether or not you believe the stories, the ruined temples, palaces and market streets set against the Aravalli hills make for a striking half-day excursion, and the Archaeological Survey of India requires visitors to leave before sunset. We can arrange a car and driver for a Bhangarh day trip, often combined with a stop at Abhaneri stepwell on the way back.

Abhaneri Stepwell (Chand Baori)

Abhaneri, about 95 km from Jaipur on the way towards Agra, is home to Chand Baori - one of the largest and deepest stepwells in the world, with over 3,500 narrow steps arranged in a dramatic geometric pattern descending 13 storeys underground. Built in the 8th-9th century to conserve water in the desert region, it's one of the most photographed pieces of ancient architecture in Rajasthan and a favourite stop for guests travelling between Jaipur and Agra.

Surya Mandir - Sunrise & Sunset Viewpoint

The Surya Mandir (Sun Temple), perched on a hilltop on the eastern edge of Jaipur near Galta Ji, offers one of the best panoramic views of the Pink City, especially at sunrise or sunset. It's an easy add-on to a half-day sightseeing trip and popular with guests who enjoy walking and photography.

Pushkar, Ajmer & Khatu Shyam Ji - Multi-City Day Trips

For guests with a full day or two to spare, we regularly arrange taxis to Pushkar (the holy lake town famous for its temples and camel fair), the Ajmer Sharif Dargah (a revered Sufi shrine visited by pilgrims of all faiths), and Khatu Shyam Ji (one of Rajasthan's most popular pilgrimage temples). These destinations are typically 2.5 to 3 hours from Jaipur by road and can be combined into a single overnight or long-day excursion - ask our car rental desk for current rates.
