Jaipur for Families: Rooms, Meals and a Quiet Homestay

Families visiting Jaipur usually need three things at once: enough beds, familiar food, and a street that is quiet after dark. Bazaar hotels put you next to the monuments, but the lanes stay noisy late into the night. Sneh Deep Guest House is a family-run budget homestay in Jaipur, in Sethi Colony, about 3 km from City Palace, Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar.

This note is for parents, grandparents and small groups planning a first trip. It covers how the rooms work, what meals we can arrange, and how to pace the days so children are not in a cab all afternoon.

Choose the room for the number of people, not the hotel name

A “family room” only helps if the beds match your group. At Sneh Deep the useful split is simple:

  • Couples and two adults — AC double or standard double
  • Two adults and a child, or three travellers — triple AC room
  • Four people — AC family room
  • Five people — grand family room

Every room has an attached bathroom with hot and cold water. Current prices are on the room tariff page. If you are travelling with parents as well as children, tell us the ages when you write — we will suggest one larger room or two adjoining rooms rather than guessing.

A quiet colony is easier with children

Sethi Colony is a residential area, not a market street. Autos and cabs reach the old city in about 10–15 minutes. You give up the ability to step out of the hotel into the bazaar, and you gain a place where children can sleep and where the family can sit down after Amber Fort.

For a wider look at this choice, read where to stay in Jaipur near City Palace and Hawa Mahal. The hosts, Mr Manoj Kulshreshtha and Dr Smita, live on the property, which is the practical difference guests mention when they travel with older parents or teenage daughters.

Meals: ask the day before

Indian and continental meals are available on prior request. That matters for families who do not want to hunt for a restaurant after a hot morning. Vegetarian home-style food is the usual request. If someone in the group has a simple preference — less spice, no onion, an early dinner — say so when you book.

Guests who want to cook rather than only eat can join a Rajasthani cooking class with Dr Smita. It is a calmer half-day than another fort, and children who are old enough to help usually enjoy it more than a second palace.

A pace that works with children

  • One big sight in the morning, then back to the guest house before the hottest part of the day
  • Amber Fort on its own day, not combined with the whole old city
  • City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal together, because they sit close to each other
  • An afternoon rest, rooftop tea, or the rooms and terrace instead of a third monument
